50 Meter Outdoor Pool in Reykjavik

The pool is open year round (6am to 10pm). The air temperatur was -4 C (24 F) when the pictures were taken.
The heat is provided by a geothermo power plant (see post below).

Electricity per year: 30 MW

Hotwater pumped: 60 Million cubic meters (15 Billion Gallons)

Holes: 1000 to 2000 meters deep (3300 to 6600 feet)

Max temperatur measured: 380 degree Celcius (716 F)

Pipeline lengh: 23 Km (14 miles)

Temperatur drop: 2 degrees Celcius over 23 Km (4 F over 14 miles)

Total cost (1998): $140 Million
